You never stop learning

He describes what Timo Wisnewski liked about his training as a coffee connoisseur as follows:

First and foremost, he has always seen the workshop provider - the Coffee Consulate - as an ideal networking platform for meeting interesting personalities from the coffee business.

"I found it exciting to expand my theoretical and sensory knowledge there, because in the past I had rather attended the practical workshops at the Coffee Consulate - like Latte Art, Coffee & Spirits, Coffee Drinks and the like".

He was also impressed by the tested influencing factors on the quality of the final product, he reveals: Among them, above all, the influence of the various paper filters on the almost puristically original coffee taste when prepared with the Bayreuth (formerly: Karlsbader) pot.

Coffee knowledge expanded

Timo Wisnewski has sufficiently expanded his knowledge through his further education as a coffee connoisseur in Europe's probably most important coffee school.

In combination with his gastronomic training, his food management and culinary studies as well as his sales experience in various areas, he has an ideal basis for developing suitable overall concepts for customers in addition to pure packaging solutions.

Pacific Bag Inc. from the United States and WEBER Packaging GmbH now have a common partner logo. Where it makes sense, they will appear with it.

Stephan Weber, Managing Director Sales of WEBER Packaging GmbH, explains: "The logo has currently been developed for Budapest, as PBI no longer has its own stand, but is located here with us, and is therefore no longer perceived as a brand. Hence the joint appearance."

World of Coffee Budapest 2017

The two long-standing business partners will thus also appear for the first time at the joint stand at the World of Coffee trade fair, which this year takes place from 13 to 15 June 2017 in Budapest, Hungary.

Sales argument for 1 kilo of asparagus

Free window bag for gentle cooking

Timo Wisnewski, salesman in the field service of WEBER Packaging GmbH: "For the current asparagus season we are currently offering the practical WEBER garbage bag with viewing window".

The idea: As an extra bonus when buying asparagus, every customer receives one WEBER Garbeutel from his food retailer when purchasing more than one kilogram of peeled asparagus. In these bags, the fine vegetables can cook gently in their own microclimate, without watering down too much, as is usually the case with water pots.

Use the asparagus promotion for additional sales

Filled only with a little salt and butter, the transport-safe sealed WEBER garbage bag is handed out at the fresh food counter when you go shopping. The customer can easily take it home with him, put it in the oven for cooking – done! The cooking process can be observed through an extra window and the condition of the food can be checked at any time.

You can now generate additional sales of asparagus at short notice by giving your customers fresh herbs, salts or a liquid such as marinade or a little broth in the WEBER cooking bag!

Fun is a serious business

In Germany there are currently around 160 immobile leisure facilities with over 100,000 visits per calendar year. Nearly all of them are members of the Association of German Amusement Parks and Leisure Companies (VDFU). The first of its kind is right on the doorstep of WEBER Packaging GmbH. In the middle of the Swabian Tuscany.

The historic excursion destination around the legendary Altweibermühle - the Tripsdrill adventure park, founded in 1929 – is only a 6.2 kilometre drive away.

By conviction WEBER customer

Roland Fischer, managing director of Tripsdrill Gastronomie is a WEBER customer by conviction. Ingo H. Klett, coffeologist and head of corporate communications of the Swabian specialist for food packaging, he proudly presents his creation, the Weinpfännle menu in the restaurant 'Zur Altweibermühle', sets a place setting with an originally printed napkin and says

"We obtain these napkins for our classic service restaurant 'Zur Altweibermühle' from your sales department. These may not be the cheapest, but they are by far the best quality." The meaningful message on the napkin is...

Made with love!

The WEBAprint department of the wholesaler, which controls all processes for its suppliers, ensures that such own prints – as neutral goods are called, which are individually designed and printed by the manufacturer during production – become reality.

Just one example of this is the following above-average attractive cups with lid and attachable play figure from the comprehensive WEBER range.

Sustainable drinking culture: refillable again and again

Cups2Drink – Cups with lids and attachable play figures are ideal brand ambassadors especially for the gastronomes and merchandisers in the amusement business: Whether stadium, amusement park, museum, indoor playground or zoological-botanical garden - such a high-quality processed cup transports safely and chic either drinks or serves to store various food products such as confectionery, sweets, chocolates or cookies or the presentation as shelf goods staged as a gift. Dishwasher-safe and almost indestructible, it transports the sender's brand into the private life of the buyer long after the purchase.

WEBAmold Catalog in a new look

After the three WEBER brands WEBAbag, WEBAroast and WEBAcup, now also the WEBAmold delicatessen cups as the so far fourth product group have been redesigned in word and picture and put online on our homepage.

"Anne Stuiber (management assistant), Marina Brockhoff (design) and Christoph Schneider (product management) have done a great job in researching and preparing the data," says Ingo H. Klett, who as senior PR consultant has been responsible for corporate communications at WEBER Packaging GmbH since 2011. His boss, Sales Director Stephan Weber, is also sure:

"With the new web presence and our digitally page-turning WEBAmold online catalogue, we are closing another information gap for our customers and interested parties regarding our extensive product range".

WEBER Corporate Communications is currently carrying out one photo and print production after the other in order to keep the entire portfolio of WEBER articles and services at the same creative level in the foreseeable future.

WEBER sales consultant Ralf Kempe is now roasting expert

Ralf Kempe is visibly proud to present his certificate as a successful participant of his roasting workshop lasting several days at the Coffee Consulate in Mannheim - probably Europe's most important coffee school.

The WEBER sales consultant and trained chef, who has been committed to food quality and safety for more than a decade, sees himself in line with former and current employees with a proven coffee background.

Roasting expert complements existing coffeologist

Ralf Kempe: "As a person from the Palatinate, I am always pleased to have the opportunity in my profession to deal with people on a daily basis, and after this fantastic as well as equally comprehensive and in-depth further training, I am now able to offer targeted help to those users who need competent help and pragmatic support in roasting speciality coffees themselves".

In the WEBER business unit WEBAcoffea, the all-round carefree package known as WEBAroast has been an established name in the coffee business for years when it comes to fully automatic roasting of small 2-kilo batches.

In addition, an optionally available smoke eliminator allows unlimited mobility of the roasting machine to any new location as well as directly in the shop, since the exhaust gas filter technology operates completely smoke-free.

Coffee becomes an issue for you

A headline that is now outdated. What Dr. Steffen Schwarz from Mannheim, green coffee trader and connoisseur of the scene, predicted years ago, has now come true. Even then, he credibly argued that against the background of the ever-increasing number of coffee drinkers on this planet, coffee as a luxury food would tend to become scarce, especially in times of climatic changes and corresponding pest infestation.

As the initiator of what is probably the most important coffee school in Europe – the Coffee Consulate in Mannheim – Schwarz is now considered the 'pope' of his guild. As a management consultant, he is also responsible for the coffee division of WEBER Packaging GmbH, which recognized the relevance of the second largest world trade market for its customers in the food sector years ago.

New market participants

As one of these new major players in the world trade market, Schwarz made up the Indian market with around 50 million new frahling enthusiasts. Which, incidentally, is only a fraction of their total population.

Dr. Steffen Schwarz: "There, a severe drought that has lasted for three years has led to massive crop losses of Canephora coffees". In India, too, the figures are clear: "The fact that the drought affects the Canephora species in particular has to do with the fact that Canephora is a pure flat-root plant and therefore cannot absorb water from deeper layers of the soil. Similar market influencing factors can be heard, albeit on a somewhat smaller scale, from the British Isles: Gerhard Pennekamp, Managing Director of DECO LEISURE GmbH from Wesel, Germany, is organising the roll-out of hundreds of company-owned shops for Starbucks, which are currently being overrun with frequency: The British discover coffee.

Brazil must import coffee

Because Brazil – the world's largest coffee grower – has also been suffering from a drought for months, the Arabica species, which is in great demand worldwide, is now mainly exported from there. For the first time in its history, Brazil must now import green coffee from Vietnam just to cover its own needs.

The Handelsblatt reads that from February to May the Brazilian government under President Michel Temer approved the import of 1 million sacks (60 kilograms each) of the Robusta variety from Vietnam. Source is the portal "Folha de Säo Paula".

This is also quoted by the national statistics authority with regard to the development of prices: coffee prices have risen by no less than 14.9 percent in twelve months.

Especially the state of Espírito Santo suffers from the consequences: There, production of the Robusta variety fell by as many as eight million sacks in 2016, around 30 percent less than in the previous year. The aim is now to import 250,000 sacks of Robusta per month. Brazil recently produced around 56 million sacks per year.

What is currently happening at EuroShop 2017?

As recently reported from Düsseldorf on Facebook last Sunday - the first day of the trade fair and trade visitor day of EuroShop 2017 - our two WEBER colleagues Christoph and Ralf are currently working as expert contact persons for WEBER Packaging GmbH at the fair.

Ralf Kempe advises you as a trained chef on the stand of Aichinger Ladenbau on all possibilities around hand sealing and other leak-proof packaging concepts

Christoph Schneider is a product manager: WEBApouch fruit and vegetable pouches come in a number of different versions: Whether organic versions made of sugar cane, new roll widths, clamp holders and attachments - be the first at the Ingemann Packaging stand!

Regardless of this, our trade fair mice have also found out that many original WEBER articles can be found as decorative items on the stand of Hans Karl Möller's natural baking brand. Together with Smeva, WEBER will be presenting packaging solutions and concepts there, as usual, with a focus on heart and mind:

Up to 20 minutes waiting time

Due to the high volume of traffic* at Hans-Thoma-Strasse 20 in Mannheim, there were longer waiting times of up to 20 minutes from 11:00 CET last Wednesday, 22 February 2017.

*) A total of 34 participants tasted no less than 67 individual Amarella coffee varieties from the 2016 harvest of the Fazendas Dutra in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. After the seventh round, the author of this article, who was present as an observer, stopped counting.

Because craft is fun

Andreas Terschawetz worked for more than two decades 'at Daimler' as the dialectally correct way of saying in Swabian when someone has a permanent position at Mercedes-Benz. At the epicentre of automotive culture - Böblingen, Möhringen or Sindelfingen.

As a design mechanic specializing in equipment technology, he spent years in the company's armored car production facility ensuring the safety of state drivers, guests of state and highly endangered persons: "After so many years, I wanted to do something completely new," says Terschawetz. In the meantime, he has been offering a mobile coffee bar, El Coffeino, for a few weeks now.

During cupping, he particularly noticed the coffee variety fermented with yoghurt cultures. "You can actually taste the aroma of the whey," confirms coffeologist Ingo H. Klett. Many other participants also find such experiments exciting. Just like the variety (umgspr.: variety) that was specially fermented with beer.

Stylish: Ja. Eitel: Niemals.

I should definitely write that his original Pike Brothers 14 ounce jeans made of raw denim can be recognized by the special Selvedge stitching. Say it, and swing his trouser leg towards a large coffee strainer. The proof was in place.

Jörg Müller from Kaiserslautern runs a tobacco shop under the brand name Marónoro with a select range of sophisticated cigars, an almost enormous selection of press and an affiliated coffee roasting plant. As a trained coffeologist - who sees specialty coffee in a row with luxury foods such as chocolate, wine, whiskey or tobacco - he has been roasting himself for years, and due to his unconditional culinary quality awareness he also supports the slow food movement.

His test winner in the Crema Magazin 4 / 2016, an Arabica of the variety Catucai vermelho in Screen 16 up grows at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,100 metres, belongs to the Água Limpa property and is a true Parzellenkaffee: Mathina is the name of the lot, for which Amarella Trading e.K., as a direct trader, has a special eucalyptus aroma.

Nowhere else do people drink so much cafe as much as in the bakery

Press release

Many see things in the black for nothing: Sophisticated coffee concepts ensure rising sales again and enable targeted expansion

Stuttgart, 26.10.2016 (wbp) - In Hall 7 at Stand C12, the official stand of bfm Ladenbau GmbH at südback 2016, WEBER Packaging GmbH from Güglingen explained the use of self-roasted speciality coffee as a sales accelerator and expansion factor every day from Saturday to Tuesday, 22 to 25 October 2016.

Declining operating results in the bakery sector need not be the case. In an ever tighter market for bakery products and many interchangeable products, new concepts are required. Because even the discounters already offer coffee-to-go. It's all about addressing the customer emotionally, says Stephan Weber, Managing Director Sales at WEBER Packaging GmbH. Why should you buy coffee as a bakery in the first place? It would be better to roast it yourself, and thus specifically arouse emotions in the shop. Show competence. Anyone who thinks that getting started is highly complex and difficult can now be proven wrong and convinced otherwise. It is definitely possible to expand your own position as a bakery by using coffee as a stimulant.

Strengthen position

According to Stephan Weber's experience, it is precisely the customer loyalty already existing in the bakery business in combination with the added value achieved by having its own roasting plant that does the main work within the framework of a successful expansion or in expanding its own market position vis-à-vis competitors. His conclusion: "The dough and coffee competence lies undisputedly with the baker!

Know set screws

As a customer's length of stay increases and decreases, so does their average per capita turnover: the longer a customer stays in your store, the more they will buy. The aim must therefore be to increase the length of time they stay in your store.

We learn from the United States that all offers at the customer's point of purchase should ideally be "entertaining, inspiring and educational" so that they are addressed at every level - in other words, entertaining, inspiring and instructive at the same time.

Ingo H. Klett, coffeologist and Head of Corporate Communications at WEBER Packaging GmbH: "We achieve entertaining quality on the one hand by the fact that our coffee cups and valve bags can be designed individually for the customer as shelf goods, but also all other packaging materials. Whether it's to establish their own brand or coffee label or to organise special events: we make it possible."

If a bakery combines this customized trend with additionally changing coffee varieties (umgspr.: sorts) and recipes, it establishes its brand or label permanently on the market in its catchment area.

Outstanding unique selling proposition

Those who roast their coffee themselves profit economically from large margins between the purchase and sales price per unit, adds Stephan Weber to his personal experience from consulting numerous market participants in the coffee business.

But even more important to the coffee connoisseurs from the Swabian Tuscany seems to be the reference to the outstanding unique selling proposition, which one acquires by such an own production: In markets that are becoming increasingly confusing, in which food discounters already offer their own baked goods and coffee-to-go concepts in the prepayment area - food retailers, bakers and confectioners who know something about roasting and are happy to do their own work are a worthwhile goal for every customer.

In order to ensure that repeat visits of this kind generate sales, the coffee experts from Güglingen recommend changing the offers regularly and adapting varieties or recipes to the seasons, seasons or occasions of a region. So coffee as a stimulant offers enough inspiration. This can be experienced at the latest when bakeries demonstrate this in a user-oriented and very practical way in the shop or show it on social media channels: Specially produced specialities with a high standard, which you as a customer can taste at any time.

Coffee Sommelier

The corresponding workshops and courses are then instructive, in which a customer can get a very personal impression of the situation at the bakery. In order to communicate precisely this advantage in terms of personnel, WEBER Packaging GmbH also employs a coffeologist. As a Certified Barista Level I and II of the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), he is not only at the sieve support but, thanks to his comprehensive training at Europe's most important coffee school - the Coffee Consulate in Mannheim - he is also familiar with all the essential factors relating to the cultivation, harvesting and preparation of the coffee plants, as well as those relating to roasting, packaging, maturing in valve bags and preparation.

Concentrated coffee expertise

As an official partner of the Coffee Consulate in Mannheim, WEBAcoffea, as a separate business unit of WEBER Packaging GmbH, offers a whole cornucopia of live entertainment with all the senses for bakeries that are now focusing on coffee as a trendy product.

Such approaches can be implemented quickly and easily, for example in the course of in-house seminars and tastings. The proximity of coffee in particular has proven to be a trend product compared to other luxury foods: Experience has shown that lovers of wine, chocolate, cigars, whisky or other delicacies have no problem in applying their own experience of consuming such things to selected speciality coffees. After all, wine in particular is regarded as the benchmark for aromas, terroir, microclimate and much more – which can also be found in coffe

Free 1-day workshop in Europe's most important coffee school

WEBER raffled every day among all visitors who threw their business card into the lottery box in hall 7 at stand no. C12 – the official stand of bfm Ladenbau GmbH – until 17:00 CET. Each visitor received a voucher for a free visit to a one-day coffee workshop in Europe's most important coffee school, the Coffee Consulate in Mannheim.

The four winners were communicated one after the other on the official WEBER Facebook company page.

In the run-up to the trade fair, WEBER Packaging GmbH had already informed almost one thousand company contacts by e-mail about this opportunity and invited them to take part.

Easy to implement

The WEBER added value: The WEBAroast concept was developed to have everything you need at hand for roasting, packaging, selling and preparing speciality coffees: From green coffee from direct trade to the fully automatic shop roaster and smoke filter to packaging and consumables, everything has been thought of. The comprehensive know-how of Stephan Weber, Managing Director Sales, with regard to shop fitting and the technical expertise of the company's own coffeologist Ingo H. Klett should also be of particular interest to customers.

Strong partnerships

WEBER Packaging GmbH has been cooperating directly with Dr. Steffen Schwarz, the owner and head of Europe's most important coffee school, the Coffee Consulate in Mannheim, for many years. With the company Naturback on the occasion of südback 2016 and beyond, especially in food concepts for bakeries & confectioneries. According to Stephan Weber, it is particularly important here to help bakeries and confectioners to gain even more gastronomic expertise than before. In order to become a full-day supplier.

Exhibition stand & general information

Against the background of his many years of culinary contacts and speaker activities, as well as his profound training as a coffeologist, the company's own coffeologist Ingo H. Klett acted as ambassador for WEBER Packaging GmbH for the best possible coffee taste.

Daily program for users and 'makers

Daily live roasting at the stand: Small samples of roasted coffee could be taken along in the original WEBAbag Hot stamping coffee bag.

Besides the possibility to taste and try a café créme and an espresso variety as a coffee speciality roasted by us, the preparation was demonstrated by the example of the reproducible quality of a fully automatic coffee machine. A general bar as well as the creative snacks from business partner Naturback as a constant catering offer at and during the trade fair were an excellent way to entertain visitors to the stand.

WEBAroast all-round carefree package

The WEBER roasting machine works exclusively with 2-kilo batches and achieves reproducible roasting results in one and the same quality every time. This is done completely smoke-free by means of a permanently installed chimney or a mobile smoke eliminator. In addition, both units can be operated fully automatically without the need for specialist personnel.

Beyond the fair

Anyone who wants to expand their love of speciality coffee or their first young interest in the coffee plant as a trendy culinary product after südback 2016 and experience it emotionally will now have the opportunity to do so regularly after the end of the trade fair for the first time with the new WEBER Office in the building of the Coffee Consulate in Mannheim: Since the beginning of September 2016, the coffee-savvy part of the WEBER staff has been offering all interested parties, users and experts numerous services relating to information procurement, individual requests for quotations and also a direct ordering option.

If desired, this can also be done differently from the restriction to WEBAcoffea articles from the entire WEBER range.

As a rule of thumb: The WEBER Office Mannheim is always occupied when individual workshops or seminars are held in Europe's most important coffee school. Whether 'Meet The Manufacturer', 'Roaster Meeting' or 'Coffeologist Meeting' – on each of these dates a competent contact person is available on site for these services.

PACKAGING. IDEAS. BOTH. – WEBER Packaging GmbH

WEBER Packaging GmbH has been developing, designing, supplying and selling packaging and packaging solutions for the food industry since 1972. Since 2012 it has been the sales partner of Coffee-Tech Engineering Ltd. for the Solar Shop Roaster and the Avirnaki Smoke Eliminator. On the occasion of the World of Coffee Nice 2013, she received an award as 'Highly Commended – Best In-Store Product or Service' at the New Product of the Show Awards for her completely new roasting concept for self-roasting selected speciality coffees.

With its commitment to the coffee business – the second largest world trade market after mineral oil – WEBER Packaging GmbH emphatically underpins its claim to continue its success story as a think tank and competence centre for user-specific sales concepts for food products. Today, its discerning clientele includes around 80 percent of the food retail trade (LEH) and many successful customers from the entire food industry throughout Europe. These include numerous innovative bakeries, butchers, entrepreneurs, start-ups, leisure parks and food trucks.

südback 2016

Those who optimise their coffee dispensing with the help of WEBER experts and roast it themselves from now on, profit economically from large margins between the purchase and sales price per unit. In increasingly confusing markets, bakers and confectioners who know something about roasting are a worthwhile target for many reasons.

In order to ensure that bakeries and confectioners are able to make the repeat visits that generate sales, WEBER Packaging GmbH will be presenting special food and coffee concepts at the bfm Ladenbau GmbH stand No. C12 in Hall 7, together with Naturback, in order to further expand their gastronomic expertise as first-tier suppliers to the market.

Coffee Sommelier

As a manifestation of its coffee expertise, the Güglingen-based family business has afforded itself a coffeologist. There are currently only about 100 worldwide. As Certified Barista Level I and II of the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), Ingo H. Klett is not only a professional at the sieve holder, but due to his far more comprehensive education in Europe's most important coffee school, he also knows the essential aspects of cultivation, harvesting and preparation of the coffee plants as well as roasting, packaging, post-ripening in the valve bag and the actual preparation.

Concentrated coffee expertise – daily for users and 'doers'

The WEBER business unit WEBAcoffea will be holding live roastings at its stand every day of the fair: Small samples of roasted coffee can be taken in the original WEBAbag hot stamping coffee bags or the self-roasted speciality coffees can be tasted on site.

Free 1-day workshop in Europe's most important coffee school

Every day WEBER raffles off one voucher each for a free visit to a one-day coffee workshop at the Coffee Consulate in Mannheim among all trade fair visitors who throw their business card into the raffle box at the stand by 5 p.m.

Autumnal Tripsdrill

Until 6 November 2016, daily from 9.00 am.

Even during the autumn holidays, fun is guaranteed in the fun park – Erlebnispark Tripsdrill near Heilbronn.

The whole park is decorated in autumnal style with bales of straw and colourful dragons. Before the approaching end of the 2016 season, visitors can take a long ride with Karacho, G'sengter Sau, Soapbox Racing & Co. and get very close to the animals in the wildlife paradise. In addition, an overnight stay in a tree house or shepherd's carriage is also possible – in the midst of the most beautiful nature.

Awarded as "Europe's Best Theme Park" for the second time in a row, everyone is guaranteed to get their money's worth here. The latest achievements are the catapult roller coaster "Karacho" as well as the family attraction "Heißer Ofen" (Hot Stove) which went into operation this summer. Here, visitors on nostalgically designed motorcycles heat up into the steep curves.

Those who get hungry can now stop directly at the new part of the park: Right next to the catapult roller coaster "Karacho" is the restaurant "Zur Werksküche", themed in the style of an old factory, with room for a total of 300 guests.

Difficult times require simple solutions.

Whether it's a bakery, confectionery, discount store or start-up: When you work with food products you are always confronted with demanding tasks.

As a user, it can then be quite useful to benefit from other people's know-how. And that is exactly what we are here for.  From now on, we will be reporting more about our activities and our calendar of events as well as user-specific topics via our company's own news channel, a blog.

In order to report on the activities of our customers and other interesting projects, we are also running a blog with selected case studies that have been thoroughly researched. Remains to be desired in both cases:
